Model 98 Shotgun, Cutdown
147k Pilotmario
8.7 years ago
A modification of the Model 98 shotgun conversion. As concealable, large-caliber weapons were scarce, weapons such as these were made from long arms. This turned the Model 98 shotgun into a reasonably concealable weapon, useful for ambushes. The barrel and stock were cut down in the modification; the rear sight was removed when the rifle was converted into a .410 bore shotgun.

@PFCWesty155 lol ok. They're not really common anyways, and the one's that do exist are either chambered in black powder shells or are bored-out Lee-Enfields with a plugged magazine.
@Pilotmario I never said they didn't exist. I was simply stating I've never seen a proper, company licenced one. I mean, my first hunting trip, I used a (whatI call a redneck garage project), it was a rifle stock, I don't know anything about it, except the fact it was a 12 gauge. I'm a firearms expert but a bolt action shotgun wasn't really something I thought about looking up lol
@PFCWesty155 There are bolt-action shotguns, notably the Lee-Enfield conversions, which was the inspiration of this weapon. They are not very common due to the low cost of break action singe-shot guns and the higher rate of fire offered by other manually-operated actions such as pump- or lever-action shotguns.
While a few were made long ago in attempts to make a repeating shotgun (they didn't realize how good pump-action was), most are conversions of existing bolt-action rifles for when someone needs a gun that will be carried around most of the time, brandished some of the time, and will be fired even less, if at all, and the risk of getting it stolen or captured is high. If stolen, the thief will have a short-ranged, slow-firing, and a relatively low-powered weapon (they are often in .410 bore).
I was going to be like: "I've never seen a bolt action shotgun in my entire life" but than I saw the fictional tag and was like, "Oooohh ok." lol
Thanks! @Silverblaze
Check out my K-18 rifle. And the Mk II version as well. @YuukaChan
Nice gun
I love your work! Why not make some more modernesque weapons?
