Backstory:

Near the end of the archon war, the land and seas around Liyue have been inhabited by demons and the remains of perished gods. The newly established Liyue under Rex Lapis needed aircraft to help rid the surrounding area of the remains.

Rex Aerospace proposed a fighter aircraft designed around interception and defense for the newly established nation, the H-T40. Designed as a fighter-interceptor, the H-T40 boasts a high payload and speed. Capable of carrying 10 different weapons, ranging from Missiles, bombs and rocket pods.

Initially there are two variants of the H-T40, a single seater (C) and a two seater (D). Both variants initally had no guns, but the opposing forces exploited the weakness of the first variants. Rex Aerospace immerdiately made the E and F Naval variants capable of mounting gun pods, but still do not have integrated cannons.

As Liyue forces gain air superiority over land, two upgraded naval variants were introduced to help with the reclaimation of the Sea of Clouds campaign. The single seater G and the twin seater H. The H-T40 G integrated its gun while the H kept the two seater configuration, adding a hardpoint underneath the fuselage for a larger fuel tank or for a nuclear cruise missile.

As the H-T40 is slowly replaced by the newer BD-310 "Sea Dragon" many H-T40s were retired and de-militarized, some ended up in museums and others paid more to keep their weapons and arm their forces with a piece of Liyue's history.

Hu Tao's H-T40 G (Serial number 77-0715) was haded down to her by her grandfather, the previous director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, who acquired the fighter through a contact, and kept the aircraft militarized for the defense of the Parlor, which stands as one of the only places that preserve the majority of rituals in Liyue.

As Hu Tao earned her wings, she finds herself adept with the aircraft, and she soon learned that her airframe, 77-0715 was one of those who fought with the Yaksha and survived the battle over Juneyun Karst, after Xiao pointed out the serial number to be familiar to him all those years ago.

Additional trivia:

  1. Majority of the plane is inspired by the F-4 Phantom because Ghost = Phantom

  2. The engine layout is inspired by the English Electric Lightning

  3. The serial number is a reference to Hu-Tao'a birthday

  4. The MZ.R "Homa" bombs are a callback to her best in slot weapon in the game
