An experiemntal divebomber built i n competition with the Ju-87 and the Henschel Hs-123, it was the fastest of the bunch but like the Hs-123 it was only capable of "glide bombing" and couldn't exceed a 50 degree dive, since the Ju-87 could 90 degree dive with no problem it was chosen and no He-188 were ordered by the Luftwaffe but 2 were sent to Japan and possibly inspired the Yokosuka D4Y, but the He-118 wasn't completely scrapped remaining prototypes became testbeds for Heinkel's jet engines (1 for Mg's, 2 for turret trim for landing gear)
