Re-12 "Corporal"
Hola! This is my challenge entry for the Bi-Plane Challenge!
In 1920, the Ecuadorian Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriano) has a request for a fighter and a bomber to expand their recently created air force. The Corporal (designation Re-12), designed by Xavier Carreon Augila Ortiz, was the largest bomber of the 4 entries and used relativly small amounts of wood. It was designated as a heavy bomber, being able to carry 8 105 kg bombs, which was the largest amount in all the Western Hemisphere at the time. It also had two water cooled .45 caliber guns at the front and a rear turret fitted with a water cooled .38 caliber machine gun, designed by Xavier himself.. The plane won the contest and 20 planes were ordered. By its retirement in 1945, it accounted for 45% of Ecuador's Air Force, or 60 bombers. Some were even used in the 1941 Ecuadorian-Peruvian Border Dispute, although they were outdated and easily shot down due to its relativly slow speed. AG 1 for front; AG2+VTOL for back turret. NOTE: Takeoff is hard :/
