HF-Trebuchet

The HF-Trebuchet is a multi-role hybrid fighter developed and produced by the Prime Earth Collective and saw use during the 2nd SepTerran War.

Following the end of the 1st SepTerran War, the Prime Earth noted that the Artemis design of multirole hybrid fighters came exceptionally short when compared to both the latest space fighter and atmospheric fighter designs of the current century (Arkebus, Endevaur 2, Blackhawk, etc.), as such the Prime Earth Ministry of Defense was tasked with the development of a new hybrid multirole fighter capable of keeping up with modern designs.

Though the original designer of the Trebuchet as well as all information regarding its construction and development are classified to the general public and the greater universe, basic information regarding its capabilities and functions are still known throughout.

The Trebuchet, much like its predecessor, the Artemis, is a highly modular platform, allowing it to be equipped with multiple different weapon configurations to fit the needs of whatever missions they are deployed for. By default its electronic equipment consists of both energy shields for energy weapon absorption and deflection and contact shields to function against ballistics and missile warheads. It has modern targeting systems, and sophisticated radar technologies allowing it to increase its effective engagement range considerably. The fighter comes equipped with both a single high-power hydrogen jet engine for atmospheric travel and an afterburner that affords additional thrust capabilities, something which the Artemis lacked, it is also equipped with modern twin Ion engines that afford it a good maximum speed in the vacuum of space without running into efficiency problems of previous generation ion engines. The usage of an AGD (Anti Gravity Drive) allows the trebuchet to maintain the same level of agility the fighter would have in the atmosphere of a planet. Much like the Artemis before it, the Trebuchet lacked an ejection system as it was mostly piloted by disposable clone drones, though, unlike the Artemis, a separate variant of the Trebuchet was developed for normal humans to use and did include an ejection system, this variant was intended for human flight commanders to lead squadrons of clones into battle where they could more easily lead and provide orders.

This example of the Trebuchet comes with a weapon configuration that emphasizes atmospheric combat in multiple roles, it is equipped with six 20mm rapid-firing autocannons, two atmospheric 5-shot long-range missile tubes, two atmospheric 3-shot short-range missile tubes, and two atmospheric 3-shot air to ground missile tubes.

Though development for the idea behind the Trebuchet would begin at the latter end of the 1st SepTerran War, it would not see any production until 3090 when the prototypes passed inspection and were cleared for use. By the Queen's Crusade of 3092, otherwise known as the 2nd SepTerran War, the Trebuchet had not been produced in sufficient numbers to supply the Prime Earth Army, as such it was a rare sight in the battlefield until 3105 when proper mass production began, which was delayed as a consequence of sabotage and espionage at the hands of the Septan Empire.

Its performance during the 2nd SepTerran War impressed many who witnessed it in action on both sides of the war, it functioned very well in both Atmospheric and Space combat and unlike the Artemis, did not suffer much of a decrease in combat effectiveness when subject to these environments.

The Trebuchet would not suffer the same fate as the Artemis, that being, having its technical documents and blueprints leaked. The entire project and the people involved in its development were kept a very close secret, even now nothing is truly known about the Trebuchet project, leading many to speculate as to how the Prime Earth managed to make such an advanced fighter.

Regardless of its origins, the HF-Trebuchet remains a uniquely Prime construct that will surely survive the test of time for many centuries to come.

Long time no see! Thought I'd make a new fighter design for one of my other factions, hope you enjoy flying it as much as I enjoyed building it! :D
