This aircraft was a Navy interceptor originally designed as a upgraded F11F "Tiger", but it soon evolved into a larger and more powerful aircraft, though two protoypes were ordered in 1955 within that year it was cancelled in favour of the McDonnell Douglas F4H Phantom II
