Operation Internationale Forum
Lore:
Beleit F/C-8A "Peregrine"
The Beleit F/C-8 (Reporting name Peregrine) is a Federation carrier-capable supersonic interceptor / air-superiority fighter designed by Beleit Technologies. It was designed in 1975 to fill the Federate Naval Forces' lack of a carrier based interceptor capable of carrying heavy armaments and fuel loads.
The F/C-8 would enter service with the Federate Naval Forces in mid 1978 on the FNS Laguna and slowly replaced the AviaTech F6C in the intercept role. During Operation Internationale in June of the same year, the F/C-8 would encounter the DefCorp F-19 Kafkat, which proved to be of mostly comparable performance, though the F/C-8 was less maneuverable at low speeds. The F/C-8 would be relatively popular among Federation naval aviators, but the aircraft series would be retired in 1987 in favor of smaller more adaptable aircraft and would be replaced by the C-9E and F.
Design and Background
NF-S Program
In 1972, the Federate Naval Forces began looking for a fighter capable of intercepting high altitude bombers that could strike their battlegroups from afar and issued the contract to both Beleit and AviaTech, who submitted very different design proposals. The Beleit proposal was awarded the contract and the AviaTech proposal for a carrier-based variable wing ramjet aircraft would be lost to time.
