Here is my entry to the fantastic 1935 Bomber Challenge.

The Flyfabrikken JA-3 Grevling

Grevling is Badger in Norwegian. It is a fitting name, as this kite was conceived as a "battlefield bomber". That is, a light bomber that carries out close support missions over the conflict zone - she badgers the enemy. She can also carry out regular strategic bombing, but the range and bomb load might be considered a little light for that role.

She carries the specified minimum bomb load (4 Boom 25s) internally in a fully enclosed bomb bay. She also has a defensive MG in the rear crew compartment and two MGs in the wing roots for strafing. At full throttle she will easily reach 220 mph at 1000 ft.

She has a crew of 3; Pilot, Gunner and Navigator / Bomb aimer.

I looked a a lot of bombers that first flew in the mid 30's and found that the Bristol Blenheim, Avro Anson, Dornier DO-17 and so on all first flew around this time. I also like the look of the PZL 37 (which first flew in 1936). So yeah, there was a fair bit of source material to look at.

The JA-3 has a cockpit, of sorts, Camera 3 is the pilot position, Camera 2 is the rear gunner and Camera 3 is the bomb load - you can follow them down to the target. Cockpit view is the bomb aimer.

The pilot has an outstanding view, both internally and externally - look over your shoulder and you can see into the bomb bay.

Controls!

AG1 + vtol down - open bomb bay and prep bomb aimer. Ths is set to be accurate (ish) at 200mph and 2000ft. You will definitely hit the ground with your bombs. Note that the artificial horizon tips 35deg down. This is normal.
AG2 + vtol down - drop flaps
AG3 lights
AG4 not used
AG5 activate rear gunner. Use pitch and roll to move gun
AG6 not used
AG7 drop bombs. Keep her level otherwise you will get a hang up.
AG8 locks controls. Keep this active, old boy.
