Appalachian International Airlines Convair CV-580
Based off Convair CV-580 by jamesPLANESii. Alright, so if you guys have been keeping up with my forum posts, you'll know that I've been making a fictional airline called Appalachian International Airlines. After much rewriting and writers block, I've finally finished the history segment of the airline. Here goes:
Appalachian International Airlines Inc. (AIA) was an American low-cost carrier that operated from 1940 to 1988. In 1978 it was headquartered in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The airline's "home" airport was Charlotte Municipal Airport, now Charlotte Douglas International Airport. It was known from 1940 until 1945 as Pruitt Aviation, until 1975 as Appalachian Airlines, and as Appalachian International Airlines until 1988, when it merged with American Airlines. The airline owned 57 aircraft in its 48-year history, those being the Douglas DC-3, Beechcraft 99, Convair CV-240 (later converted to CV-580s), Douglas DC-9-10s and -30s, Lockheed L-188 Electras, and one single Boeing 737-200. This plane in particular, a CV-580 owned by AIA, crashed as flight 676 from Charlotte, NC to Huntsville, AL (that is a real city, trust me), killing all 45 passengers aboard. The cause was CFIT due to pilot error, and bad training over at AIA. This particular incident signaled the beginning of the end for AIA, as the company incurred severe losses up until they were acquired by American Airlines, and they merged on December 4 1988.
Jesus Christ, this took FOREVER TO WRITE. Hope you're happy with the lore. Also, @Travelplanesofficial the svg vector I was talking about is on the tailfin bud :)
