The F-79A-2 Arrowhead-NG is a single-engine, single-seat multi-tole fight er designed and built by Dirk Aerospace industries. The Arrowhead-NG program was undertaken by Dirk aerospace industries in order to provide a more modern multi-role fighter aircraft at an even lower price than the F-77 Lamda. The Arrowhead design had proved itself extremely successful for decades but smaller nations with older outdated variants were looking for a more capable fighter, but many could not afford the export variant of the F-77. DAI used the arrowhead airframe as the base for their new fighter but the final product had only a small resemblance to the original design. In order to create a more maneuverable fighter the fuselage was shortened slightly and the delta wing was replaced with the mk.1 wing used on many of DAI's designs(such as the F-77). A new all-flying tail was also added and the vertical stabilizer and drogue chute from the F-77 were used. The aerodynamics were improved by modifying the air intakes and recessing the landing gear further into the fuselage. This modification of the landing gear increased the aircraft's flight performance but the plane more unstable on the ground and making landings more difficult. One DAI-AC-20XM autocannon was mounted in each wing root, each with 100 rounds of ammunition. These cannons were used as they were low cost while still performing relatively well, they are also easier to maintain than a rotary cannon. The cockpit interior was modified to accommodate new avionics and increase comfort. The size of the Arrowhead's nose was greatly reduced also. This vastly improved visibility for the pilot, especially for landings, and improved aerodynamics but resulted in the radar and other systems in the nose to have to be very tightly packed together. This made it very difficult to repair. A much better engine, the J-7777C was also added.
The A-2 variant of the Arrowhead-NG was designed for use by the Terrmon Air Force and the Terrmon Air Guard. Even though they had just purchased a large number of F-77 Lambda's the F-79 was found to superior in several aspects including price so a large order of F-79's was placed and the order of F-77's reduced. The A-2 variant features two addition mounting points for dogfighting missiles on the fuselage, a centerline hardpoint for a gun pod or fuel tank, and two fuselage mounting points for LRAAMR missiles. This F-79A-2 is carrying two LRAAMR-1 'Lance'(long range active radar) missiles, two 'Dogfight' MR-11B(medium range semi-active radar) missiles, two 'Dogfight' MIR-11C(medium range all-aspect IR) missiles, and four 'Dogfight' M-11(short range all-aspect IR) missiles. The MR-11B is an improved replacement of the MR-11A which doesn't tumble on launch like the MR-11A often did. The MIR-11C is an all-aspect IR tracking variant of the MR-11B.

- the cockpit is from the Pigpen and the nose is a modified version of what's on the Pigpen

  1. opens and closes the cockpit
  2. deploys/releases the drogue chute
  3. lowers and raises the flaps
  4. drops the centerline external fuel tank
  5. activates/deactivates the afterburner (activated on startup)

For some reason when I copied and pasted from notepad this time the text showed up strange. I don't know how to fix it other than retyping everything.

I saw an article about the Kfir-NG online and decided to make a "next generation" version of the arrowhead. I ended up liking the result more than the F-77 Lambda I submitted for the challenge, so I decided to make a second submission. Hope you like it!
