Following the development of micro-reactor technology, a number of companies launched planes with this scoop jet design. The collecting scoop forces air into the intakes, where it is superheated and pressurised by the reactor, then vented from the exhaust nozzles to provide thrust. The SC-24 design diverts some of this thrust to VTOL nozzles (when group 1 is activated) at the front of the craft to aid takeoffs and landings.
