Boeing X-59A SCF

1,706 gpoon  6.7 years ago

In the mid 2030s, the United States Navy required a new carrier-based air superiority fighter to complement their fleet of F-35s, and to replace the final few F/A-18s remaining in service. In order to develop this new fighter, the Department of the Navy held the secretive SCF (Successor Carrier Fighter) contest. Three designs were submitted by Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and, of course, Lockheed Martin. Bearing striking resemblance to the vaunted F/A-18 Hornet of old, the X-59A was Boeing's entry for the competition.
