328k SpiritusRaptor
2.1 years ago
Auto Credit Based on SpiritusRaptor's Newton's Cradle Ver2
Experimental.
Starts with neutral propeller pitch - Trim down for forward and up for reverse.
Start wind speed at about 25 to 30 mph, at over 60 mph use Trim to change propeller pitch to maintain balance.
Change wind direction and use gusts to see how it adapts.

It wouldn't work irl, the rear wheel wouldn't be turning counter-clockwise, it would turn clockwise.
@WormWithLegs Thanks
This is a cool concept!
@hardy57 Thanks
Works very well - no explosions ...
a
@SpiritusRaptor Oh there is
@Stanmich
I think there is already one on the site...
Nice! now make a strandbeest
@SnoWFLakE0s Thanks.
Oh yes.. and all the other new features that make making these builds so much faster. This was 3 days of mucking about, a few years ago it would have been 3 weeks of tedious XML editing and the like...
Excellent. Made a terrible attempt of this long ago with much less sophistication. Quite polished
I imagine you made use of the better collision hitboxes added since then?
@BogdanX
Thanks, this is just experimental, the colour is to highlight various connections etc... Next though, will be a bit more authentic looking...
@Johnnyynf
time to ask the devs
Innovation
everytime i see this kind of build i feel very sad that this game don't have proper gears
@IzzyIA Thanks, that took a bit of trial and error, but got there in the end.
This is so cool! I especially like the gear mechanism at the top that lets it supply rotation no matter which angle it's facing, kinda similar to a differential. Really great job!
I remember while watching youtube is a mechanical (wood) wind walker (multiple legs)
