The Boeing XB-15 was a long-range heavy bomber used during the interwar years. Although it did not reach mass production, it had potential as a freight aircraft capable of carrying heavy payloads at altitude, at long ranges.

Actual Lore

The Boeing Aircraft Company, alongside Glenn Martin Co., Sikorsky Aircraft Co. and Douglas Aircraft Co. sent tenders on a request for proposal for a long-ranged bomber set by the United States Army Air Corps in about 1934. Ultimately, the XB-15 and the XB-19 (Douglas) was built.

The aircraft was about 16 tons dry weight, powered by four radial engines with their nacelles attached to a thick wing. Based on real-life evaluation, it was projected to carry a maximum bombload of ~5,000 kilograms, which the aircraft actually demonstrated as a freighter — carrying cargo instead of bombs.

As noted on the aircraft's capability, the bomber was repurposed into the XC-105 type and was used up until it was declared obsolete.
