Poyasakai MRF 161-mod.26 multirole fighter
The MRF 161 Multirole Fighter
Design History
During the late 50's. The Karyan Unionidentified that the newly established Baphometian Union and its allies to be the biggest threat. So during 1958, the Karyan Union commissioned the Poyasakai Design Bureau to design an experimental fighter that could be used as an attacker. The design process of the airframe started in late 1958 and flew successfully in early 1961.
Operational history
The MRF-161 joined the Karyan Self Defence Force and proved to be a major success. Pilots enjoyed being in the cockpit. The aircraft was heavy and agile.
When the 2nd phase of the Modern Crusades started. A Karyan Cargo ship was sunk by a Baphometian cruiser after they misidentified the ship as a Fabellan Cargo ship. After losing 50 sailors, the Karyan public roared for war.
Before the mobilization of the KSDF, the Poyasakai Design Bureau quickly equipped the mod.26 variant to a carrier borne fighter. Despite being a carrier borne fighter, the front landing gear would snap-off whenever it would use a catapult. But despite this drawback, the fighter was able to engage and shoot down enemy fighters. After the 2nd and 3rd phases (1961-1989) the MRF-161 mod.63, the latest variant, was retired from Karyan service in the year of 1990 and sold off to Karyan allies.
Mod.26
Despite being a fighter, the fighter proved itself in the ground attack role. Being able to carry 4 tons of external ordinance. It was greatly feared by many units for being able to erase columns of vehicles with many bombs, and would often force Baphometian jets to retreat because of its ability to carry heavy AAMs.
