About the Plane and the Company behind it.
The ION Company is founded in 1987 by Jack Fisher, an American entrepreneur and former Boeing engineer who left in 1979, in 1985 he reignited his passion in aircraft and later founded the company two years later after a bet in a bar from one of his buddies.
The ION Company originally made parts for manufacturers like Bombardier and Cessna, however Jack Fisher wanted to make it's own aircraft by using the parts they made, for 3 years he personally designed and tested the Platypus Aircraft, and after being approved by the FAA, it officially went into production.
The Platypus is a Single engine, single seater, piston engine general aviation aircraft made by The ION Company, First flown in 1989, it became the first aircraft made by The ION Company and was personally designed by Jack Fisher himself, named the Platypus because of his shape (i just love platypus's), it immediately became a successful aircraft with nearly 600 units built in the first 2 years and it is still being built up until today.
And until next time, Farewell.
