Development on the KEM (Kinetic Energy Missile) started in the late ’70s to destroy fortifications. The missile is a 6ft long, 200mm steel rod propelled by a solid-fuel rocket that can reach speeds up to Mach 2. The missile is essentially a rocket-propelled javelin. The first platform the system was mounted on was nicknamed Dragon.
