The Imperial jet fighter 'Wakizashi' was a succesor to a prototype plane called simply Kara-1 'Ka'. After a few combat missions it was heavily redesigned to fit competition. Two of it's machineguns were reinstalled to form what's now often called "Oni horns", painted red to look threathing. The overall shape changed a bit too.
