Dart Interceptor
"I put the machine to full throttle at 15,000 feet. Immediately, the force of the jet pinned me against my seat back, as it accelerated. Before I knew it, I was flying at 1,100 mph. Most surprisingly, I found myself able to control her well at speeds up to 800 mph. The all-moving canards are not necessarily a novelty than a necessity. I see no reason why we continue to use the Hawk given the existence of the Dart."
-Lt. Col. Aimee, chief test pilot for Barracuda Aircraft Industries
The brainchild of Linda Weiss, the Dart Interceptor is one of the fastest aircraft in the Pilotmario Air Force. Able to fly at 1,000 mph at higher altitudes, this performance comes from its powerful engine. However, this made early models tempermental to fly, earning the nickname Widowmaker. The later models, depicted here, utilize all-moving canards, solving the issues. It became the core of the Pilotmario Air Force, and was vital in the many conflicts against the League of Olympia.
During the later stages of the Second Olympian War, they saw service in limited numbers, where they proved effective against the Hermes, and provided a strong counter. They were the primary fighter during the Third Olympian War, where their performance advantage was significant. However, the use of long-range missiles on both the Hermes and the Dart made this advantage less relevant. Due to this, the Renegade was developed to counter this threat. Both variants have been phased out due to the multirole nature of the Renegade.
