When taking off vertically, throttle up, go up and press the first activation group and VTOL foward. For horizontal takeoff, press 2 and 3 (weapons) and take off normally. For landing turn off the first activation group and VTOL backward. Once you slowed down enough so you are basically hovering throttle down.
