North American X-15A-2

6,447 Timocreates  7.9 years ago

Sorry for the long wait (if anyone noticed) but after nearly 150 hours I give you my X-15A-2.

This X-15 is a 1:1 scale of the X-15A-2 mid configuration (1966). It comes equipped with 2 external fuel tanks (detachable) along with its own paint job.
I made this model to set myself away from the other x-15s, and because i think it looks better. Sorry for the high part count. some small things had to be changed so that it could fly without any troubles.

Some of the specs

detachable external fuel tanks and lower rear wing.
1:1 cockpit view (sorry no dials or gauges)
Original yaw controls (not that great)
Original rocket exhaust shape and colour.
Original air brakes.
can travel over Mach 6.72 / 4,520mph at around 70,000 feet.
Original camera angles on the plane that were used for hypersonic flight research.
Too much detail.

HOW TO FLY THE THING

it's not really that hard, fly with the trim all the way down when the fuel tanks are attached. fly with the trim half of the first bar down when the fuel tanks are detached.
WHEN LANDING you have to come in low and fast, I recommend landing on the grass. detach the fuel tanks and down facing wing so that the rear skids can reach the ground.

AG-1 main rocket
AG-2 detach rear lower wing
AG-3 detach external fuel tanks
-landing gear is just landing gear

make sure to tell me if there are any problems
credit to the person that made the NASA Logo, couldn’t find your account sorry.
