Ghost Dynamics - BAe Albatross MRA.1
My second entry to the Maritime Patrol Aircraft Challenge.
This is based, like so many other MR/ASW types, on a civilian type; my Regional Jet Challenge entry.
https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/4oKZLm/Ghost-Dynamics-Type-300-Commuter-Regional-Aircraft-Challenge
So,
Type;
Ghost Dynamics / BAe Systems Albatross MRA.1
Role;
Maritime patrol, strike, ASW, ASR, ELINT & SIGINT
Produced by;
Ghost Dynamics (airframe and JASM trapeze system).
BAe Systems (surface search RADAR, SONAR, MAD systems, fire control systems for the Joint Anti Ship Missiles -JASM-, FLIR, FLINT, Navigation Systems and other classified targeting, navigation, countermeasure systems and ECM suite.
Rolls - Royce Clyde ADVANCE Turbofans, FADEC systems, fuel systems and other classified propulsion systems
First flown in 1999 (as a modified Ghost Dynamics type 300m civilian airliner).
Entered service with the Royal Air Force upon retirement of the Nimrod MR.2 fleet, in 2010 with 42 and 51 squadrons.
Loadout;
Internal
4 x JASM anti ship missiles
10 x BAe Systems «Argo» tactical search / attack bouys (lovingly named «Agro» by the crews that operate them due to their ability to track and destroy targets)
External
6x Mk46 air drop torpedos in under wing bunches of three per wing
Number Produced
51 total.
1 prototype (a converted GD Type 300)
30 MRA.1 for the RAF
20 MRA.51 (export variant with inferior avionics) 3 sold to Kuwait, 3 to Chile, 6 to Australia, 5 to Norway, 2 to Greece and 1 to the USA for evaluation purposes.)
Controls.
AG 1,2,3 & 4 operate together with GEAR to toggle up/down open/close.
AG1 is the landing gear
AG2 is the gear doors
So, unless you want a thick ear from the C/O it is highly suggested to operate the landing gear as follows;
1- select gear up.
2- get airborne.
3- activate AG1
4- upon stwing of the gear, activate AG2.
Upon landing, simply avtivate 1&2 and drop gear as normal.
AG3 lowers the JASM trapeze system. Bote, if you attempt to initiate launch of a JASM with the trapeze raised, you will exploderize. That would be bad.
AG4 toggles the weapons bay doors.
AG5 ditched outer wing stores
AG8 turns off the engines 1 and 4 (the outers) allowing for economical cruising. Remember to set throttles to 0 before deactivating.
VTOL is flap.
Trim to trim pitch.
The JASMs are operated just like the I ferno AGMs and the Argos are dropped as bombs.
Cam 1&2 are pilot / co pilot and from 3-12 are optical tracking for the Argos. Note that AG6 operates the marking lights on the bouys.
Good hunting!

Thank you Mr Werx. @ChiChiWerx
Nice maritime patrol bomber!
@GhostHTX i think it works well reminds me of the Nimrod a little
Thanks! I got to the end of the build and thought that it lacked something. The beak and the name were the last things to fall into place. @Carbonfox1
This is a mean looking beast...very nice
@Dimkal Cheers!
@SledDriver Many thanks!
Aircraft is within rules. Good luck!
