The Lockheed P-38LK Night Lightning is a World War II–era American Jet-engined fighter aircraft. Developed for the United States Air Force
The P-38LK had distinctive twin boomsand a central nacelle containing the cockpit and armament. Allied propaganda claimed it had been nicknamed the"NightHunter"

History:
The jet engined fighter was created as long-range interceptors for one particular day
26th January 1947 German jet bombers were getting ready to bomb america
So Lockheed decided to capture one me 262 and remove it engines and fitted in the p-38 the Americans never knew where the bombers would come form but they know it was at night time. The p-38lk was created with the most advanced radar and most fastest fighter of the time.
