In order to compete with Boeing 767, European Airbus Industrial Company has developed the 200 seat class medium and short range dual channel wide body aircraft Airbus A310. On the basis of the Airbus A300B, the fuselage has been shortened and a new wing has been designed, using a twin crew. The cabin is a typical two-stage layout with a standard passenger capacity of 220 people. The A310 is the beginning of Airbus' development, and the market performance of the A300 and A310 ensures the main competitive position of Airbus and Boeing. By the time of discontinuation in 2007, a total of 260 A310 aircraft had been produced.
