Auto Credit Based on Chancey21's Old Plane Flight Attempt Challenge
Designed to be a fast and small little airplane, the Racer 1 was a prototype that was to become a very fast plane in its day. The prototype did have an attempt at flying on November the 25th, 1906, but failed when the prop broke on take-off due to a strike. The second test, which was later that day, ended even more miserably. The plane wobbled on the ground, but managed to take-off, only to loose control and slam back down onto the air field. The race plane project was cancelled for fear of more tragic accidents.
