Auto Credit Based on Pilotmario's Bandit-Axe Raider A-7A Attacker

(1-6) releases underwing stores. (7) activates drag chute. VTOL controls air brakes. A significant overhaul of the type, incorporating triple pylons, a twin-engine configuration, drag chute, air brakes, revised air frame, and enhanced maneuverability. It shares 50% parts commonality with its predecessor. Compared to the Pummeler, it can carry more ordnance and fly faster, farther, higher. The excellent balance provides improved handling and take-off performance. In addition, thanks to its air brakes and drag chute, it can land on incredibly short runways. The satisfactory performance of the type means it will be a part of the Paternian Air Force arsenal for a long time, and may even replace the aging A-1 Pummeler.

Do you realize how thick a bomb casing is?

Along the lines of "need precise shot from .50BMG API at 500m" thick.

A missile blast is most likely to cause more airframe damage than detonate said munitions.

I have never heard of an aircraft who was brought down solely through the detonation of external munitions.

    In short, it's a non-issue. @JakeTheDogg

I mean, if you hit it enough times, it will eventually fall out of the sky, like any airplane.

In this case, it's several hundred times. @Mudkip

Bomb bays were designed so that the aircraft can carry bombs inside the plane in order to remove the parasitic drag which external loads do.

Plus, numerous modern aircraft use externally-mounted ordnance and have no issue in regard to bomb detonation from enemy fire. It is significantly more likely ground fire will inflict sufficient airframe damage to bring an aircraft down than detonating external bomb loads. @MemeKingIndustriesAndMegaCorporation

Or you can buy up 500 Pummeler A-1E with that money, including spares.

As we are downsizing our armies in our combat with Persia (it's another RP I may interest you in), we have a large number of Pummeler A-1s we have in store.

The type, while proving very effective over 150 years after it was built, has a cult following, and the symbol of Paternian military prowess, is getting old. The A-6 Anvil, another foreign type adopted by the PAF, proved capable of doing what the Pummeler can do at lower costs. The A-7 Raider, as made by Bandit, is a vastly superior aircraft in most respects, being faster, more maneuverable, harder-hitting, and more resilient to ground fire.

This leaves us with a large number of surplus Pummelers, which will undoubtedly see its end in a scrapyard, in the service of a foreign military, or sold at a fraction of the purchase price to civilian buyers. @GALM1
