[EFA] IMAM Sha.40

73.9k Monarchii  one month ago

Lisseramo's all-reliable three-engine heavy fighter. the Sha.40 boasts superb air-to-ground performance and defenses, with it's dorsal-turreted twin 12.7mm making short work of any tailing fighters.

  • |[ Sky Crawlers : Innocent Aces-inspired description ]|

weekeeeendin chiiseposting!!

this time, an italica-flavoured weird sparviero-hinted heavy fighter, where did the idea came from? well.. pinterest, I remember seeing a three-engined kinda heavy fighter with a defensive turret akin to the SBD(I think) one time and lo and behold, Sha.40 was born.

Originally, twas named Compe.40(comentatahjsbdhsk pesante or something, means heavy fighter in Italian), feels wrong though so Sha it is, short for... Sharenne(I dunno many nor any Italian names), oh and the IMAM.. not Meriodiniale, but Mattero lmao :3

anyway enjoy this heavy head-on deleter that apparently dogfights well too, and four 250lb bombs makes short work of any ground targets, ahwoo.

enjoy anyway, toos!!

The Industrie Mecchaniche Aeronautiche Matterro Sharenne Modele 40, or IMAM Sha.40, is a three-engined tractor Heavy Fighter operated mostly by the Lisseramo Air Force and in limited numbers by Lisseramo Naval Air Corps for anti-shipping duties.

In 193X, Aeronautica Militare(TL : Air Force) of the Lisseramo Republic, knowing they were very much behind the curve when it comes to their aircraft forces, issued a specification for a versatile multirole Heavy Fighter.

the specification entailed was that the aircraft had to have the firepower to take down bombers quick, a good climb rate, payload of atleast 1000lb(456kg), speed reaching above 430km/h at altitude, and is capable of if needed be, to fight escorting fighters.

only two companies dare to took up the duty to make an aircraft for the specification, the dated IMAM and the relatively new Vonnelle Aeronautiche.

It is not enough said to say only that the competition was fierce. sabotages, arson, "accidents", and even assassinations, neither of the two companies was content that they could very much lose the contract to each other. in the end though, IMAM won the specification in 194X, whether it'd be from the fact that IMAM was close to many high-rankings of the Air Force and/or just plain out betterly designed, one will never know for certain as both are still argued by scholars, historians, and professors.

.
"-it was a very stable platform and can bring amazing firepower to bear, but by God, the 20mm keeps jamming like the transmission of a *Mostellico!"

*Mostellico : a car from the 193X from Lisseramo, known very well for it's transmission issues, even to the point of becoming an insult.

.
"with our ammo practically expended, returning to base was basically the only thing we could do, but when I saw them nearly helpless and pinned down by fire, I couldn't just let them be, I did what in my mind that maybe, just maybe, could help them. I asked the pilot to circle around them, then I swiveled the turret around and start firing at those fuxkers, I think to myself that i couldn't do much with the limited ammunition I have and only firing in short bursts, atleast I thought so until I met some of them who participated in the operation post-war, they say those minutes i bought shooting at the scrambling fuxkers from the skies was enough that they could flank and capture them.. the moment they told me that, I thought to myself, "maybe getting chewed for it was worth it." hah!"

  • |[ Aeronautiche Militare Veterans Across Eras by Mauricio Petros; Mr. Prissa Mutteronni, Air Force Observer-Gunner, IMAM Sha.40 ]|

[ Controls ]

  • Standard Flight Controls
  • AG1 : Level Flight Gyro
  • AG1 + AG2 : Pylon Turn Mode
  • AG3 : Turret Gunner Mode(turn off wobbler and fixed guns)
  • AG4 : War Emergency Power(basically afterburner for warbirds)
  • VTOL : Flaps
  • Dorsal Turret : Camera-aimed

[ Guidelines ]

[ Taxiing ]

  • 10-15% Throttle, Yaw to turn Nosegear

[ Takeoff ]

  • Throttle 100%, Flaps Half-Down, Trim Full-Down, let it takeoff by itself(or pitch up when 150km/h(94mph), tooosh)

[ Flight ]

  • Standard Aircraft Controls; flies pretty neat, AG1 if you wanna be lazy while travelling around, AG4 to boost yourself if you are chased, is all.

[ Dorsal Turret ]

  • try to run away by WEP-ing and/or climbing if able to; if unable to, try to go lower or at parallel altitude with the chasing interceptor, activate AG3, and poke them(for whimsy gameplay purposes, MG can phase through tail), optimally, target should be around 600-800m(0.3-0.5 miles) away for best grouping, though it depends on the gunner's skill.

[ Landing ]

  • Throttle 30-35%, Flaps Half-down, Trim accordingly, target speed is 170-200km/h(106-125mph) for best landing speeds.

[ Armaments ]
(come up with name for them, or not, who cares)

  • 2x 20mm, Cowling, Synchronized, 633m/s(2076ft/s), 480rnds/m(8rnds/s)
  • 2x 30mm, Wing Root, Synchronized, 720m/s(2362ft/s), 360rnds/m(6rnds/s)
  • 4x 12.7mm, Belly Pod, Synchronized, 783m/s(2568ft/s), 780rnds/m(13rnds/s)
  • 2x 12.7mm, Dorsal Turret, 783m/s(2568ft/s), 900rnds/m(15rnds/s)

[ Notes ]

  • quite happy with how this one turned out actually, is cute, exudingly tomboyishly cute energy, if that makes sense, it's like... it's cool af, but also just... cute.. I can't even define the word for it, but it's just cute.
  • yes, the insignia roundel is basically a circle and a cross, but is cool no? easier to make than the Viskatherian or the British roundel atleast...
  • you know, the other day I revisited my old account on webarchive, brings me odd joy seeing it, somberly cool, like, it's kinda my peak at one point in time that I just can't reach now it feels like, I won't say my aircrafts are of high quality back then, but it is indeed more detailed than what I make now considering it, it's just.. nostalgically good, hm.... maybe, if I feel like, maybe I will try it with this aircraft, but to be honest, I don't... know, might work though... mmhmmh~
  • idk, someday I will try make hangar decoration, that day is not today though, so this her.

@Dragoranos yeah, i think it was the CAC Boomerang's engine, Twin wasp was it? I forgot, basic idea though, was that two engine is underpowered, and four is excessive, so three is the choice

@Monarchii For info, did you base the engine size after anything IRL?

@YarisSedan it's just the chassis, but I don't wanna fuxk around with it further cause if the base is fuxked, then it'll be fuxked fuxked later kek, but anyway, gimme a minute or someaboot-ten

@YarisSedan when I get into cars lmfao, I scrapped the technical I planned because for some reason, it doesn't like going on reverse and it just, turns sideways like it isn't supposed to do

    Average Italian fighter
Two is too little, four is too expensive.

@Boeing727200F I'll probably try to make that somehow somelater, maybe the reason behind it is a massive amounts of outdated engines from decade ago and lack of industrial capabilities to make more powerful engines(maybe because of war) so strap some on push-pull and mirror it both side and boom, four engine fighter lmao

@Monarchii you left out 4 engine fighters
though that kind of aircraft is so rare it they are considered extinct
