(READ DESC) Armour damage or ERA effect demonstrator thingy 1.2.3
Quick note: I was browsing to make sure that this was an original idea after making it, and found that @LT556 came up with a similar idea 6 months ago, although i am posting this still as its for a different purpose (although it still does the same things in the end in terms of protection). This is not a copy of his idea, and was not inspired by it. I saw his post when i was close to finishing. Now, prepare for a stupidly long description! Last night i came up with an idea. Using glass sheets, nudged to be just barely in front of an armour plate or fuselage you can create an armour damage effect. If you shoot it, it will break, and because glass makes things slightly lighter coloured, the plate will look darker and damaged once the glass that covered it is broken, and the breaking effect will look like shrapnel. If opacity is set all the way down, and it is well nudged, it will barely affect the visuals, other then making it look brighter and possibly more shiny. You can make the effect last multiple hits by adding layers of glass, on the demonstration for the sheet method i have used 2 layers. If you set max opacity, and make glass blocks, it can look and sort of work like ERA, when hit it will break, and it will block the first shot of small AP cannons, and standard machine guns and possibly even very small HE (real ERA works better on chemical energy rounds, such as shaped charges, HE, HESH, etc, but in simpleplanes explosive rounds will just destroy and/or damage anything in their radius). Plus, the breaking effect will look a little like the flyer plate and pieces of it and the round getting thrown away. In the demonstration i have here, i have an armour plate with 2 layers of glass on it, and an xml modded minigun (modded so it fires at only 60rpm, so it demonstrates the effect better) aimed at it. There is also a demonstration of ERA using glass, i kind of threw it together so the blocks are not in rows. If you want to test the ERA swap it (grab by bottom fus
