1955 AVRO 720
In the 50s AVRO was very much fascinated by the delta wing therefore almost all their designs had delta wings including the mighty Vulcan, the AV.Roe 720 was an answer to a duel posted rocket/turbojet interceptor Design specification, it would use a rocket to get to bomber altitude (1) and then manoeuvre around on a smal, jet after the rocket fuel ran out, the design was scrapped and I think I found out why, the positioning of the above engine (there's meant to be a jet on top) basicly having an engine there with a very thin delta wing pushes the nose down and does not allow pitching at low speed it was a very bad design initially, and I've had to edit it considerably by extending the wing forwards and shortening the nose to improve flight characteristics,
This is part of my British Cold War jets series
ENJOY!
