Prismarine Aerial Defense System - Onshore VLS Battery

About This System

The Prismarine Aerial Defense System On-Shore Vertical Launch Battery is a surface-to-air missile battery designed to eliminate targets. Carrying more than 100 “Smolder 3” missiles, the large battery is capable of tracking and destroying multiple targets.

Developed in 1987, it was created as a way to destroy aircraft by launching dozens of missiles at it. Deployed across the nation, they were strategically placed near potential crossing points where enemies could cross. It saw success in the Trident Civil War, taking down about 15 jets of the rebellious Ardo militias. The system was updated with the new “Smolder 3” missiles, which are designed to destroy aircraft, along with new communication lines to tracking/detection stations. Like any battery, the Vertical Launch Battery uses information from tracking and detection stations to find their targets, and then launches a surface-to-air missile.

With a success rate of about 83%, most targets are eliminated, though it is primarily focused on early jets from the Cold War era and other low-speed/maneuverability planes.

Operation Guide

Please follow these instructions to have an explosive time destroying the puny AI.

  1. Confirm that you possess the will to destroy the inferior ai.
  2. Switch on Air-to-Air mode. Now, our advanced radar will begin tracking aircraft.
  3. Switch to your intended target, and click the fire button for the missiles. It will launch one of our Big Bad Boom Missiles (patent pending) and track the target.
  4. If one of the AI possesses the basic will of defense, they may lock on to you with air-to-ground missiles. Please deploy flares to your heart's content until the sky is as orange as your soul after your girlfriend broke up with you.
  5. If you wish to close the silo door, please turn on AG1. Now, you can use VTOL to control the door. And for the love of god, do not launch missiles while the silo doors are closed. 6. If you, for god knows what reason, play on VR, (I’m joking, relax.) you can control all aspects of the missile by using the three seats facing the window. One provides a handy-dandy radar screen made by the user Domnolyo, another provides controls for the silo door, and the other has launch buttons, targeting, and flares.

Notes

This system only works if your target is at a high altitude.
Otherwise, the missile upon launch may not be able to turn so it is not flying vertically.

While the silo doors exist, feel free to launch missiles. You may find they cause an explosion of a thermonuclear ICBM’s wet dream.

Flares in fact do exist, meaning you’ll have to wait for ai’s to waste their flares until you can institute rapid disassembly.

If the ai is in a bad place, it may decide to end itself by flying straight into you. If it is nearby, and at a low altitude, we recommend you count your blessings and pray the pilot has bad eyesight and misses you.

Feel free to use the XML modded missiles, the launching mechanism, or the control booth in your own projects, though I would appreciate it if you could provide attribution.

And now, please enjoy the destruction of your enemies as you laugh maniacally against the backdrop of fifty surface-to-air missiles closing in on the poor tanker you spawned in only to be slaughtered like a farm animal. And yes, there may be a few issues with this build as I’m not the best at… well… all of this.
Enjoy, I guess.
