JU-88 Mistel Bomb

109k WalrusAircraft  9.2 years ago
Auto Credit Based on WalrusAircraft's JU-88 A4

Here is Germany's interesting attempt at a flying bomb. I had this in my inventory with no intention of releasing. It was just something I created for the pure joy of the game. The Me 109 (top plane) is a blast to fly. You can dive at speed into the water and pop back out again! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this simple plane.

I really like the aircraft, detaching the bottom part make the plane itself really good at areobatics, and I assume theirs a fuel glitch because right after I detached the bottom it just stays at 31%.

@WalrusAircraft : Using Mistel bombs convinced them to go the radio guidance way, like the FritzX or Henschel 293 torpedo. Mistels were great against huge targets but the lack of guidance on the terminal phase meant that most missed. They were more like siege artillery, really... Ever seen the Me109 and DFS glider combo?

@WalrusAircraft hey Sr. and Jr. I have a question. Actually I'm on a project and I need a fuselage cone with a 0.25 height. I would be so happy if you could mod one for me. I'm on android. Is this possible?

@Martijnproper - I was always curious how effective this platform was. Sounds like it was very good for the time of the war, until the v-1 and V-2 came into being.

Reminds me... this Me109-version had to be used during the Overlord landings in Normandy; later Fw190s were used.

Captain Horst Rudat of KG101 received some (St Dizier, France) and those were used against the beachheads. They probably hit the Courbet, an old French battleship that was being used as a block ship for the British Mulberry-harbour at Courseulles.
