Name : Strenno

Type : Pr. 455 Frigate

Pr. 455 launches a tactical missile at enemy ground targets.

Short Description

Project 455 frigates are designed for coastal defense and escort of large naval formations. The ship is designed for mass production purposes and therefore has a small size and modest armament complement. For multitasking purposes, the ship has a wide range of installed weapons from anti-ship and anti-aircraft to anti-submarine missiles.

Release of countermeasures during an enemy attack

History

Project 455 ships were designed to provide the fleet with smaller and cheaper ships than destroyers and to replace obsolete escort ships.

The Strenno was assigned to the Expeditionary Force, and as such was often involved in campaigns, some of which turned out to be combat missions. During one engagement with enemy anti-ship missiles, the ship was damaged, but survivability forces were able to keep it afloat long enough to make repairs. The ship was recovered and continued in service.

This ship was exported with some armament being replaced by the customer's armament. This proposal did not have a high demand, but several countries in due time placed orders.

One of the frequently mentioned disadvantages of this project is the ship's weak anti-submarine armament and insufficiently powerful sonar to ensure anti-submarine defense of the formation. The only standard anti-submarine armament of the ship was a modification of the Rb. 161 missile designed to attack submarines. But these missiles took up precious space in the launcher, weakening the other armament of the ship. Therefore, the tasks of anti-submarine defense were assigned to deck helicopters with submersible sonars and homing torpedoes.

Controls

Throttle - Engine power
Brake - Brake/reverse
Yaw - Steering

AG 1 - Arm Rb.161 Missiles

Main guns - Camera Aim
CIWS - Camera Aim
All missile weapons are auto-guided.

Weapons

100 mm autocannon

Automatic large caliber gun, used more as an auxiliary armament than as a main armament.

Cutlass CIWS (30 mm autocannon x 2)

CIWS with rapid-fire autocannons and independent targeting and tracking radar is used as the last line of air defense and as a weapon against small maneuvering targets.

Rb. 116 x 2

Short-range SAM with fast and maneuverable missile for ship defense at short range. To reduce lags, each launcher is filled with only 9 missiles instead of 21. (In-game designated as RIM-116, on which they were based)

Rb. 145

Long-range vertical-launch SAM system. Suitable for engaging targets beyond the range of short-range SAMs. Due to the limited size of the ship, the same universal launcher is used to launch this type of missile as for anti-ship missiles, so the ammunition is only 8 missiles.

In addition to its primary purpose as an anti-aircraft weapon, the missile can be used in extreme cases to strike radio-visible surface targets, but this is not recommended because of the weakening of the ship's overall anti-aircraft defense.

Rb. 161 A

Standard long-range subsonic anti-ship cruise missile. It is the main pro-ship armament. In the current version, 8 of the ship's 16 universal launch cells are loaded with this type of missile.

Rb. 181

Lightweight subsonic anti-ship missile. It has a shorter range than the missile used as the main weapon, but it is noticeably cheaper to produce and does not take up space in the universal launcher, but is stored in launchers behind the deckhouse.

It is used against weakly defended targets at relatively short ranges. Missile launching is available only from the side on which the missiles are located, to use missiles from the other side it is necessary to turn the ship.
