UNSC AV-30 Kestrel
Dubbed the 'Kestrel' by Misriah Armory, the AV-30 Light Assault VTOL is a ground effect hovercraft that uses a trio of ducted air fans for propulsion. Despite the similarities to other UNSC Attack VTOLs, the AV-30's fans can only lift the airframe a few feet above the ground, but this allows the Kestrel to navigate tight quarters and narrow spaces to attack from where it's least expected. Each Kestrel is armed with a pair of twin-linked 40mm autocannons, which shred the armor of both ground and air targets. Prototype models of the AV-30 also fit a pair of M302 rocket pods under the autocannons.
Controls:
Pitch/Roll/Yaw: Drive/Strafe/Rotate
VTOL: Vertical Turret Drive (External Camera Only)
Trim: Adjust Hover Altitude
AG8: Toggle Main Power
Weapons:
GAU/10A Heavy Autocannon: Twin-Linked 40mm autocannons mounted to a pair of vertical turrets to each side of the cockpit. 2,000 round capacity. Keep clear of explosions.
M302 Guided Rocket: High explosive mini-missile that tracks the current target. 20 round capacity. Maximum range is 5,000 meters. Needs direct line of sight for guidance. Can change targets mid-flight.
Additional Notes:
The camera aims the Vertical Turret Drive in first person. (the reticle will not move left or right, but neither do the turrets)
The Hover Altitude label in the cockpit will let you know when you get to maximum altitude.
The lift engines change their pitch when going over uneven ground.
The landing gear will automatically raise and lower at a certain altitude. (the front foot will sometimes sink into the ground)
You can ''jump'' onto certain ledges by flicking the trim slider to max power quickly.
