MC-50 [Jordia War Challenge]
"This is truly the jack-of-all-trades. When we start production of this aircraft, Mchangia will never need another fighter again!"
-David Komoye, supreme commander of the Mchangia Air Forces
(I mean, it is probably Mchangia's last fighter, since more emphasis is being placed on ships now.)
My first time making a full VR cockpit!
This is one of the many aircraft that I've designed, and the very first one that has become a reality through SimplePlanes. Because this is a major milestone, I wanted very much to have a cockpit that would be 100% VR-compatible, so that VR users can also enjoy my creations.
And I have to admit, after building, I really loved flying this plane from the cockpit! It handles very gracefully when I use the yoke to fly, unlike when I use the regular computer keys.
So yeah, I think that if this plane does get curated, they'll really like flying this. I don't want the plane to be curated because of the extra points (yes I know double points are involved); I honestly don't really care about my points anymore. I just want to spread my design further out so that it can reach more people, and hope that this plane will make their day.
My original sketch.
Warning: Prepare for a loooooooooooooooooooooong description!
The Backstory
Right after the Jordia War started, the Mchangia government organised a competition for a successor to the obsolete MC-37. 2 of Mchangia's biggest aerospace companies, Mchangia Aircraft Corporation (MAC) and Cpanya Aerospace, both submitted extremely capable fighters, the former with the MC-47 and the latter with the MC-50.
Despite the MC-50 being more advanced and able to support multirole capability, the government approved the MC-47 instead because the plane's more conventional design would be easier to mass-produce. This was indeed a mistake (sorry Planebuilder2123), as 95 out of the 190 MC-47s produced were shot down by much more capable CE-15s and CE-18s. The MAC factory in Knova City, one of the 2 producing the MC-47, was also destroyed by a bombing run by a CE-21 in March 1949.
Desperate, the Mchangia government knew that it needed a more advanced fighter, and fast. It ordered Cpanya to start production of its MC-50 design, and build as many planes as possible. To produce the aircraft, Cpanya converted one of its airliner factories into an assembly line for the MC-50, while keeping the factory registered as civilian to prevent it from being bombed.
By July 1949, a grand total of 115 MC-50s had been produced. Despite the MC-50's multirole, jack-of-all-trades capability, it did not make the MC-47 obsolete, as the MC-47 was still a highly capable fighter.
Performance
*Type ratings may not be fully accurate.
Speed
- Cruising: 870km/h (541mph)
- Maximum: 920km/h (572mph)
- Stall: 300km/h (186mph)
It could achieve these speeds because of its two turboprop 6-bladed NVK-60 engines, the most powerful of its time, in a push-pull configuration.
Altitude
- Maximum: 50,000ft (15.2km)
Range
- Quite far (never tested before)
Like my other planes ahem ahem, it's quite hard to land because the huge front propeller snaps off easily. If you try hard enough and use the cockpit, you can land it though; the above picture is proof.
Oh yeah, it also takes off from both the USS Beast and (just barely) the USS Tiny.
Features
- Obviously flies
- VR cockpit with openable canopy
- Folding wings, for aircraft carrier operations
Weapons
- 5 guns; 2 facing the front, 2 facing the rear (to shoot down intercepting aircraft) and 1 mounted on top at an angle (you'll see why.)
- 4 Boom 25s, 2 in the internal bomb bay and 2 on pylons on the wings.
Roles (if you didn't figure them out already)
Role 1: Nighttime interceptor. The MC-50s and MC-47s were painted dark blue in order to better blend in with the nighttime sky and the ocean, where the aircraft do most of their intercepting.
Intercepting Strategies for the Cespedland Bombers
I'll let my beautifully drawn diagram explain.
Evading the Highly Capable CE-18 Interceptors
- If the attack comes from behind, the MC-50 can use its rear-facing guns to try to drive away the CE-18.
- Alternatively, the MC-50 can use its high agility to make a steep turn, dive and do the following:
-> Turning off all lights
-> Turning off the 2 engines, to make the aircraft go silent and evade detection
-> Fly behind any mountains, so that the CE-18 will just zoom by at Mach 1 without noticing the MC-50.
Role 2: Bomber Escort
It'll help the MC-47s in escorting the MC-68 bombers for a certain military operation.
Role 3: Bomber
Like I mentioned earlier, the MC-50 can carry up to 4 bombs. While escorting the MC-68s, it can turn into a bomber of its own and hit some smaller targets, leaving the larger targets to the MC-68.
And for those who aren't in the Jordia War Challenge, I hope that you'll still enjoy my simple fighter-bomber!

The yoke on a fighter plane💀
LET’S GOOOO IT GOT CURATED IM LITERALLY SO HAPPY RN
@TASTEinc it is
Very nice, it’ll get lots of support (love the very cockpit)
My fighter kinda failed lmao
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes and once bee finally reads my message about how turboprops have jet engines in them to work we might get jets
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes you got 2 things wrong, my corporation is aeroaerospace and the mc-47s are bombers/attack aircraft now since the mc-67 is in production, but other then that I love this build, good job
is the design based on the Dornier Do 335 if so there is crazy resemblance
