Wreath Drone of Doom (Lands on water)
10.1k LaserShark
8.8 years ago
Slow, heavy drone, but can fly and hover smoothly if you are light on the controls. Lands in water and takes off again. Can float and is actually quite stable on water. Doesn't really need landing gear, and is kinda fun to crash.

@Layne I guess? If so, then I must have developed it from my girlfriend xD
Why? An example of real OCD would be this: locking yourself in a dark room and sitting in a corner for 2 hours a day 12pm-2pm exactly without moving at all because if you do not, your parents would die by being struck by lightning. @Layne
i like it
Crazy builds. I like it
That is not what OCD is -_- @Layne
I approve.
terrifing and unique
Highly respect how long this must have taken, but at the same time, it kills me that this thing isn't symmetrical
I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE IT
Best thing on the internet
WAT IS THIS!!!! ITS GOING TO KILL MY TABLET FOR SURE.
Phenomenal!
This is quite a amazing creation
This is insane. Defo would like to keep tabs on this software of yours
@LaserShark Not a problem, we'll figure it out :D. and if you share it, maybe someone will improve it.
@NumNumz That's true.
Problem with sharing the software, it's not very user friendly software at all. Doesn't even have an interface yet.
@LaserShark You shouldn't really have any non-planar faces in your 3D models anyways, as that causes problems with not just SimplePlanes but pretty much any CG art. You should share the software if you ever get it working :D It's really cool!
@NumNumz I don't think splitting the quads into tris is going to help, if I ever found a way to get face orientation from a tri, I would simply use the first three vertices of a face to calculate the angle. That methods only weakness would be non-planar faces.
I think it's actually funner this way, since I'm writing the software myself, there is quite the challenge to it, and it's insanely rewarding when something like this starts to work right.
@LaserShark Okay that is pretty cool, and your problem might be because you aren't splitting the quads into triangles, or taking account of it. But doesn't this method kinda take away from the point of playing this game in the first place?
@NumNumz It's actually my own software I've been writing to convert .OBJ files to simple planes XML format. Since I'm no math whiz, I've been having trouble getting the poly angles from the vertex coordinates, so that's why all the panels are aligned in those weird angles. If I ever get it working, I should just be able to model stuff in Blender, export it, and load it as a SimplePlanes file.
@bjac0 Wow, that...makes it seem like this is not that amazing after all.
@NumNumz its a downloadable code that can allow a user to make something like this in seconds. Its pretty, but over hyped.
So whats your technique for making these. You use xml modding right? Is it just an algorithm for position/rotation.
What the actual F. I'm gonna for like a day, and stuff like this happens. Wacky, yet amazing! Keep it up.
@AndrewGarrison Feature it!
