The DIS was another escort fighter built to protect bombers on long range missions, but it would have also been modified to a bomber or reconaissance version, but due to German invasion and the poor performance of it's orginal Mikulin AM-37 it was cancelled before a second version powered by M-82 radials could be shown (trim for landing gear)
