MD-82 China Northern (Flight 6136)
The McDonnell Douglas 82 aircraft is an improved version of the 80 model in the McDonnell Douglas 80 aircraft series. It is a medium to short range aircraft developed from the DC-9 aircraft of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company, which currently belongs to Boeing. It belongs to the same level as Boeing 737 and Airbus 320. It has two jet engines, 147 to 172 passenger seats, a cruising altitude of 11300 meters, and a fuel capacity of 17 tons.On April 12, 1985, McDonnell Douglas signed a contract with Shanghai Aviation Industry Corporation to purchase 25 out of 26 MD-82 aircraft in China. The contract was fully completed in 1991. At the end of 1985, the first batch of MD-82 components from the US arrived in Shanghai. The first MD-82 was finally assembled in Shanghai on June 30, 1986, and its first test flight was conducted on July 2, 1987. On November 9, 1987, the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States issued a production license for the final assembly MD-82 in China. In April 1990, an agreement was reached, and Shanghai Aviation Industry Corporation finally assembled 5 MD-82 aircraft and 5 MD-83 aircraft for return sales.
