The F199 Was a step backwards from the dominant F198, scoring just 2 wins and 5 Podiums the entire season. It was primarily owed to the grooved tires, and the fact McLaren and Ferrari had built cars more suited to the new regulations. Even with the poor performance compared to its predecessors, the F199 established itself as the leader of the midfield, scoring points in all but one race, at Suzuka.
