Audi TT Type 8N
(wikipedia)
The production model was launched in Sept. 1998, based on the Volkswagen Group A4 (PQ34) platform as used for the Golf Mk4, the original Audi A3, the Škoda Octavia, and others. The styling differed little from the concept drawn by Freeman Thomas- who had also designed the modern Volkswagen Beetle, as well as Peter Schreyer. Factory production commenced in October 1998.
Early TTs were cited in a series of fatalities from accidents involving speeds over 112 mph (180 km/h), abrupt lane changes or sharp turns. Both the coupé and roadster variants were recalled in late 1999/early 2000, to improve the car's handling predictability at very high speeds.[13] Audi's Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) or Anti Slip Regulation (ASR) were added, as well as a rear spoiler, along with modifications to the suspension system. All changes were incorporated into subsequent production. Production of the first generation (Type 8N) ended in June 2006.
Performance
The model I have chosen to create is the one with the naturally aspirated 3.2L 6 cylinder engine. It produces a maximum power & torque of 247hp and ~320N-m respectively. The drivetrain is a Haldex 4WD system which spreads the power between the front and rear wheels depending on their grip. Information regarding the engine torque curve and gear ratios was provided by Gran Turismo 5 and cross referenced from other sources. Top speed is electronically limited to 250.9Km/h or 156mph, 0-100/0-60 times come within 0.1 second accuracy.
The handling of the car was also tested in GT5 with assists turned off. It is overall a pretty docile car to drive, though is still possible to induce oversteer. Braking is made much easier by use of ABS, though I find it more fun to drive with it off as you have to be good with the brake pedal.

I owe a lot of my current knowledge to Rexzion and Kangy as they have helped a lot in explaining to me things like torque curves and gear ratios and traction modeling etc. A good 90% of the funky trees in this car is derived from rexion's R31 with the engine torque and transmission. I greatly enjoy driving his car as fast as it can go and it has been one great reminder among many of how much i love cars.

jokes aside been very cool to help with it. it’s amazing how well driving models have progressed in sp in the last little period
hopefully will have the time to make a miata of similar quality in due course (I say this and it won’t happen)
