M97A1 Scorpion Redux
The M97A1 would become the standard MBT until the M97A2. It contained many changes from the original, also known as M97A0 by Ordnance. It added a loaders' machine gun, which couldn't be mounted on the A0. Other changes include a new turbine engine, which can be identified by the cooling vents (which have screens but I couldn't put them in) on the engine deck. The engine deck was also reworked, allowing easier access to the new motor to maintain it, not that the engine wasn't reliable. A muzzle-mounted laser rangefinder based on a Paternian design. Armor was changed as well. The Archangel II composite armor was a major improvement over the original Archangel armor. The export version can be mounted with a varying range of cannons, with the maximum available cannon that could be effectively mounted would be a 17.5cm cannon. A larger one could be mounted, but it would hamper the effectiveness of the crew and the turret.
