HISTORY

Kawasaki Aircraft was instructed to develop a successor to the 99-type assault aircraft as Ki-102 Otsu, but Ki-93 started development separately at the First Army Aerotechnical Research Institute. The Army instructed us to complete it as a practical machine, if possible, although it is a "research machine" for mounting heavy weapons. It included new axes such as a 6-wing propeller with a variable pitch mechanism and a laminar airfoil, which were not found in conventional Japanese military aircraft. Armed with a large caliber cannon aimed at the upper armor of the tank, the center of the lower part of the fuselage was equipped with a Ho-402 57mm cannon, and two Ho-5 20mm cannons in the wings. Although it first flew in April 1945, the main landing gear and propeller were damaged at the time of landing, and then the aircraft was completely destroyed by an air raid during repairs, and the war ended as it was.
