history

The aircraft was developed in 1941 to intercept enemy strategic bombers. The aircraft received a 75 mm autocannon, which fired high-explosive fragmentation shells with a high explosive content. The aircraft also had 8 machine guns.

As a result, the aircraft became very heavy. In order for it to develop the required speed, it was necessary to have an engine with a capacity of at least 1800 horsepower. But such an engine is very heavy, and it would finally kill an agile one. The solution was to install two engines with 1000 horsepower each.

Due to the saved weight, it was possible to install a radar on the aircraft, and the shells received a radio fuse.
