The A-4B Skyhawk is an upgraded variant of the A-4A Skyhawk, developed by Douglas Aircraft in the 1950s as a compact, lightweight, and highly maneuverable carrier-based subsonic fighter-bomber. The A-4B retained the innovative delta wing design without flaps and the simplicity that defined its predecessor but featured several enhancements for improved combat performance and operational flexibility.Powered by a Wright J65-W-16A turbojet engine, the A-4B could reach a top speed of 673 mph (1,083 km/h). It was capable of carrying up to 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg) of ordnance, including bombs, rockets, and missiles, across five external hardpoints.
