Flag of Azerbaijan

This is the flag of the small Caucasus nation, Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a landlocked country helped set the Southeastern border of Europe. The nation has, among smaller ones, a rather large exclave, known as the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, has an area of 2,100 square miles (5,500 square kilometers). This means Azerbaijan's exclave makes up about 6% of Azerbaijan's land area. The nation borders Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Iran to the south, and Armenia to the west. Azerbaijan also has a tiny border with Turkey, which is only 6 miles long. The flag of Azerbaijan is a very interesting tricolor with an 8-pointed star & crescent. The tricolor is red, light blue, and green, making it one of the only countries in the world with this color combination. The star and crescent are a traditional islamic symbol, with the 8-pointed star symbolizing the 8 Turkic peoples that formed Azerbaijan. The crescent represents Islam, which is the dominant religion in Azerbaijan. The red symbolizes the life for Azerbaijanis, the light blue symbolizes Azerbaijan's freedom, which manifests itself in the sky. Finally, the green represents the future of Azerbaijan that presents itself in the form of the Azerbaijani natural environment, This will be my only flag this week, as I am now working on a 6-month collaboration with many other users, so until then, enjoy!
