3 stage rocket
3 stage rocket with satellite!
Launch sequence:
VTOL all the way down to lift satellite arms.
AG1 and throttle 100% to liftoff.
Rocket will ascend and acceleration will top off around 1700mph. At this point, dethrottle and deactivate AG1, then immediately throttle back to 100% and activate AG2, this will dethrottle the first stage and engage the 2nd stage.
Activate AG3 immediately after step 3 to detach the first stage, parachutes will open simutaneously.
Rocket is still ascending but slowing down with 2nd stage boosters, once the speed reaches 700mph dethrottle and deactivate AG2, throttle back to 100% and activate AG4.
Immediately activate AG5 to detach 2nd stage.
3rd stage and satellite will continue to ascend and slow down, once the speed reaches 150mph move VTOL 1/2 notch above center to bring down satellite arms.
Once the rocket reaches max elevation and begins to descend, and satellite arms are extended, activate AG6 to open satellite parachutes. Then activate AG7 to detach 3rd stage.
Tips:
-If all goes well, AG3, 5, 6 and 7 will be active, these must stay on as they are the parachutes for all stages. 1, 2 and 4 should be off and throttle off as well, these are the boosters and aren’t needed on the descent.
-Parachutes open for each stage upon detach besides the satellite.
-Depending on the timing of the stage separations, the rocket can reach higher altitudes, my max is 196k ft.
-The satellite chutes are opened before 3rd stage detach to allow the satellite to move up and away quickly upon detach, so 3rd stage chutes don’t interfere and get tangled. Satellite arms must also be extended to allow for proper parachute deployment.
-Stages can be separated by activating the next stage up before deactivating the previous stage, and then detaching so the next stage boosters are already full throttle at detach, this can prevent some loss of speed if you do it right.
For example, if stage 1 boosters are on and throttle is at 100%, press AG2 twice to activate it but prevent use for a moment. Then dethrottle and deactivate AG1, throttle back up and activate AG2 then AG3 for detach.
-The engines seem to lose power as elevation increases so past the 1st stage its a constant deacceleration. The boosters on the 2nd and 3rd stages seem to only slow down the slowing down, basically. Less oxygen at high elevation I guess? Oh well theres nothing I know to do.
-There are orbit cams on each stage as well as two onboard cameras, one on the 3rd stage and one on the satellite. For onboard flight I use the 3rd stage camera (camera 5 i think) and aim it down, until just before satellite detach, then i go to camera 6 on the satellite and aim it down to get a good view of the 3rd stage detach.
Enjoy!
