SP-21 Mauler
Here's what I fear is becoming a semi-annual addition to my profile! Presenting the SP-21 Mauler!
I made this aircraft to test some new building methods that I haven't gotten into much yet like fully custom landing gear that doesn't clip through the fuselage and using inverted fuselage peices to make a very smooth body.
The Lore I Suppose...
The SP-21 was designed during the mid 80s as a mid to long range interceptor capable of taking down enemy bombers, however, as the use of traditional bomb-carring aircraft declined, the need for the SP-21 diminished. In order to keep the airframe in service, most SP-21 were transferred to ground-attack roles carrying out precision airstrikes and fulfilling support roles for troops on the ground. Still very much a capable interceptor, the SP-21 would occasionally be assigned to clear airspace, but was not found to be much good against other, more modern air-to-air fighters. The SP-21 was in service for about 20 years before advancements in stealth and more capable airframes made it once again obsolete.
I hope to put a guide to the controls in soon, and maybe implement engine flameout for high angles of attack, so let me know if you'd like to see those.
