The DC-9 aircraft was developed by Douglas Aircraft Corporation(later merged into McDonnell Douglas) in the 1960s. At that time, the civil aviation market needed a low-noise medium-sized passenger aircraft to meet the needs suitable for small airports and short and medium routes. The biggest feature of the DC-9 is that each side of the fuselage is equipped with a turbofan engine and a T-type vertical tail and horizontal tail. The DC-9 is a market competitor with Boeing's Boeing 737.
