[OLD] GEO B-84 Chimera
UPDATE:
The air frame has been reshaped and made much bigger. The plane can now carry an even larger payload of munitions. The simulated cargo has also bee removed to allow for more customization in the design editor.
WARNING:
This plane is very large, large enough to cause significant lag to weaker platforms. Loading this plane into a map might even cause the game to crash. And even if the player's platform is powerful enough to render this plane without lagging or crashing, players must be careful to spawn the plane at a location that provides ample space for its size.
HISTORY:
The B-84 Chimera was a new type of military aircraft designed by the GEO State Engineering Bureau. This aircraft was designed to fulfill a triple role as a cargo plane, a bomber, and a gunship. Three aircraft types combined into one single air frame, hence the name "Chimera", which was also a monster of Greconian mythology. Because the Chimera was the only aircraft to ever be designed for a triple role and was one of the last non-space faring airborne vehicles to be built on Earth, it was one of a kind. The Chimera was primarily used for clearing out the last pockets of resistance once the GEO faction ceased full control of the planet, and it has done so with glorious results.
INSTRUCTIONS:
The vertical and horizontal stabilizers will wobble at high speeds, so do not raise the throttle to any level higher than 60%. The B-84 will also become unresponsive at low speeds, so do not lower the throttle below 30% except when preparing to land.
The vertical and horizontal stabilizers may also wobble upon jostling the controls too fast and too hard, so be gentle and precise with the controls.
Action group 1 engages the gun on the left side of the fuselage. Action group 2 engages the gun on the left side of the fuselage. Use the gun input control to fire.
Action group 3 engages the hinge rotator that controls the cargo bay hatch/ramp. Slide the trim input above the center position to raise the cargo hatch and slide it below the center position to lower the cargo hatch. Action group 3 also illuminates three blue lights inside the cargo bay, which serve as a visual warning that the cargo hatch is ready to open or close.
Action group 4 illuminates a second set of warning lights inside the cargo bay of the plane. These lights are red and are meant to simulate the bomb bay doors opening. There exists a mod that allows players to add actual working bomb bay doors through the design editor. Pair these doors to action group 4 for added authenticity. Be sure to use the "Overload" mod to disable aircraft collisions.
Action group 5 illuminates the exterior lights.
Select the "air-to-ground" category then select either "Boom 50" to prime the 500[lb] dumb bombs or select "Cleaver" to prime the heavy cruise missiles. Use the "launch weapon" input to launch the selected munition. There are 48 Boom 50s and 72 Cleaver missiles available.
