Background
The CE.Z238 is a delta wing twin engine interceptor, designed in 1968. It's two MR.6340 TW, producing each 73.5kn, propelled it to mach 1.8 at 9k mtrs very easily.
The Euroknight was fruit of a 6 year long program between Italy, West Germany, Britain,France,Sweden and Greece to arm European air forces with fast interceptors to repel an eventual Soviet invasion.
Thus,the 238 was armed with 4× MLR-43 Long Range missiles,and 2× MLR-60 BVR/High potential missiles.
It proved to be a trustworthy platform, especially for Italy and West Germany, both of which used it up to 1998 (1990 for West Germany, integrated into the German Luftwaffe after the reunification)
This livery was sported for the introduction flight in 1970 in Rome, showing an all white body with blue details and the Italian flag on the twin stabilizers.
Overall a very good aircraft, it was slowly phased out after the USSR disbandment.
