(*SILVER SPECIAL*) Sdkfz.179 Repair Panzer ''Bergepanther''

7,358 SchwarzerRitter  7.9 years ago
Auto Credit Based on SchwarzerRitter's Panther Ausf. D

HISTORY: (Copypasted from Wikipedia because I'm too lazy to write it myself)
-------------

(NOTE: The MG-42 is from TAplanes, I've just borrowed it for this tank.)

The idea for the German Army to build a recovery vehicle came with the issue of salvaging heavy tanks circa 1943. Tractors were too obsolete to tow an armoured vehicle effectively, the recovery halftracks were barely adequate, and towing with another tank was strictly forbidden as this could result in the loss of both tanks.

Thus, work began on a new recovery vehicle based on the Panther, called the Bergepanther or "Mountain panther".

It had a crew of 5, featured a wooden box for stowage of parts, a crane to install or lift them, a rear-mounted spade in the back as a counter-balance when towing another vehicle, and several towing hooks and lines for, you guessed it, towing other tanks.

Plus, with added protection of a vehicle based on the Panther, this tank could tow damaged vehicles when under enemy fire.

Many versions were made of the Bergepanther, some had machine guns, while others had full on anti-aircraft guns attached to them.

CONTROLS:
-----------------

W,A,S,D keys to move it, throttle to move forward, speed is 16 mph only, AG-1 and the VTOL control to move the MG-42, spacebar to fire.

AG-2 to move the crane. Though the crane can move from side to side, it can't function properly.

I made the Bergepanther more for looks than for function, but if you'd like to use it in a scene or a screenshot, say, of it "repairing" another tank, you can.

@Planenerd2006 Oh, those planes. Right now I have the educational system hitting me in the face, so I'll won't be able to do much.

@Adlerkrieg no, I mean the luft46 rammer Aircraft like the never built DFS Eber and the Focke Wulf Rammjager, and the very obscure Stöckel rammschussjager you can only learn about it on flying-things.ch, and go to its German aircraft page, please note: when you are on the main page it'll show you a section on butterflies and the other section on German aircraft projects, click German aircraft projects section, but some of the text is In German.

@Planenerd2006 You mean the Sonderkommando Elbe?
